Niagara police to hold training Wednesday in Fort Erie community

The Niagara Regional Police Service’s emergency task unit will be conducting a training exercise Wednesday.

It will take place between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the area of West Main Street and Old Mill Road in Stevensville, a small community in Fort Erie.

Officers say people in the area should expect an increased police presence, the sound of simulated gun fire and the sound of controlled explosions.

There will be signs and police tape in the training area.

People are asked to stay away from the training sites.
