Niagara police make 2 arrests in weapons, drug trafficking case

Niagara regional police have made two arrests in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged weapons and drug trafficking.

According to officers, information regarding these offences in St. Catharines was brought to their attention earlier this summer.

Police say the investigation involved a multi-unit residence building on Church Street near Niagara Street.

Yesterday, police carried out a search warrant in the building, where they seized stolen property, a rifle, an airsoft pistol, a stun gun, and suspected hydromorphone tablets.

After the search and seizure of these items, police arrested 36-year-old Jade Hayward, and 56-year-old Peter DaSilva. Both are from St. Catharines.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009244.
