Officers are investigating a collision in St. Catharines Friday morning where a pick-up truck hit and killed a pedestrian.
Police responded to a report of a serious collision at around 6 a.m. on Lake Street in St. Catharines involving a white Ford F150 pick-up truck and a man.
Emergency crews found a man in critical collision before transporting him to hospital. The man later died from his injuries in hospital.
Detectives say the investigation is in it’s initial stages and have closed portions of Lake Street in-between Carlton Street and Dunlop Drive for the rest of the morning.
Niagara police posted on X just after 8 a.m. asking residents to avoid the area as they look into the cause of the collision.

Lake St. in St. Catharines is currently closed between Carlton St. and Dunlop Dr. for a serious collision investigation.
It is expected to be closed for several hours. Please avoid the area and find alternate routes.
