Niagara police investigate Smithville homicide of 62-year-old woman

Detectives are continuing the investigation of the death of a 62-year-old woman in April in Smithville after determining that it was a homicide.

Officers responded to a call just after 12:30 p.m. on April 26 to a home in the area of Lindan Street and Alma Drive.

Emergency crews said they discovered the woman’s body inside the home, before the homicide and forensic units arrived at the house.

Police have identified the woman as Cathy Prosje from Smithville, and are also looking for her laptop as part of the investigation.

Investigators are looking for Cathy’s Hewlitt Packard Elite book 840 G9 Notebook, described as a silber, 14-inch screen laptop with serial number 5CG3106K1J.

Detectives say her computer may have been discarded, traded, or sold at local pawn shops.
