Niagara police charge St. Catharines man with 2nd-degree murder

Police arrested a man from St. Catharines following a fatal stabbing Thursday night and have charged him with second-degree murder.

Officers attended the area of Niagara and Church Streets in St. Catharines just before 10 p.m. following reports of a stabbing.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found a man with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported the man to an out-of-region hospital before dying from his injuries.

Detectives have not revealed the identity of the man at this time.

Investigators say they identified the suspect and arrested 52-year-old Stephen Dunk from St. Catharines.

Dunk is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday at a St. Catharines courthouse.
