Niagara police arrest Port Colborne man for luring minors

Niagara police have arrested a 33-year who is accused of luring a minor and possessing child pornography.

Officers say they raided a Port Colborne residence on Monday, where they seized “numerous devices capable of storing electronic data.”

During the raid, Marc Oliver Marier was arrested and charged.

Police say their investigation began back in January and was initially a project led by the Ontario Provincial Police’s child exploitation unit before the operation expanded in April and included Niagara police.

During the investigation, they uncovered that Marier was using an online alias, “Atlas Xavier.”

He faces the following charges:

  • 1 Count of Luring a Child via Telecommunication to facilitate Sexual Assault
  • 1 Count of Possession of Child Pornography
  • 1 Count of Accessing Child Pornography
  • 1 Count Making Child Pornography Available

Marier was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on June 10 in St. Catharines for a bail hearing.
