New magazine highlights migrant farm workers around Norfolk

A new publication aims to support and educate local farm workers who leave their homes for months at a time.

The new “On The Farm” magazine will provide education on farmers’ rights, including information about pensions and proper deductions from their pay.

The Director of Norfolk Community Action, Leanne Arnal, says part of her mission is to ease the transition of farm workers coming from all parts of the world.

“There are men and women who are getting information from what they think are legitimate sources and spending money and they get scammed given wrong information, said Arnal.”

“The magazine is very insightful, it’s informational. It gives us a sense of purpose to see we are part of something greater than ourselves, that you’re part of a community,” says farmer Ernie Simms.

The magazine serves as a platform not only for information but also to showcase the talents and interests of the farm workers.
