An 85-year-old man has tragically passed away after his minivan was redirected during a crash and sent into a pond.
Officers responded to the two-vehicle collision around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, near Church Road and Stewart Road.
They say that the 85-year-old man driving a 2015 Dodge Caravan eastbound “proceeded through the intersection” and collided with a 2008 GMC Acadia driven by a 78-year-old woman.
The crash sent the minivan away from the initial crash and into a nearby “large pond.”
Police say the man was recovered and pronounced deceased on scene.
Neither the woman nor her passenger sustained any injuries.
This crash temporarily closed the roadway, but it has since reopened.
Officials say an investigation into the incident remains ongoing and seek witnesses.
Police are asking anyone with information on what happened to contact them by phone at 905-688-4111, option three, extension 1009569.
