Man charged, another wanted in assault and robbery at Niagara bar

Police have made an arrest in response to an early morning robbery that took place in late June outside of a bar in Niagara Falls.

The incident happened between 2:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on June 27 at 5800 Main St.

While outside the bar, two men reportedly assaulted a man and stole his jewellery. One suspect allegedly pulled a gun and waved it at the man, who was able to get away.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation led detectives to the Culp Street and Drummond Road area of Niagara Falls on July 10. Officers carried out a search warrant, resulting in the recovery of over $1,000 in cash and nearly $10,000 in powder cocaine.

Police arrested and charged Jared Patcheson, 22, with robbery using a firearm, kidnapping, possession of property and possession of cocaine. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday at the St. Catharines courthouse.

Detectives are attempting to identify the second suspect and have reason to believe there were witnesses at the scene when the incident took place.

Anyone with information or anyone who may have been in the area is asked to contact Niagara police at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009346.
