House fire guts part of Grimsby home

A home in Grimsby was badly damaged from a fire.

No one was injured.

Crews were called out to the scene near George Street and James Street around 7 p.m. Sunday.

The first fire crews on scene reported seeing heavy smoke billowing out of the garage. They managed to get the blaze under control after about an hour.

Currently, there is no word on what might have sparked this blaze or what the estimated damages cost might be.

Images from the scene show that the structure’s roof and garage sustained significant damage.

Many of the shingles are visibly pushed back, and the garage is a husk of what it once was, with the framing around the entrance charred to a crisp and a side-port window now nothing more than an empty frame.
