Niagara Health says it’s adjusting the intake hours at its Welland Avenue site in St. Catharines due to staffing shortages.
The site, located at 264 Welland Avenue, offers mental health and addiction services in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Effective Monday, the new intake hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Patients will continue to have access to outpatient services seven days a week, as well as access to short-stay beds.

Niagara Health says it’s currently experiencing staffing challenges across the organization, particularly within the mental health and addiction programs.
Outside of the intake hours, people seeking urgent withdrawal management support are asked to go to the emergency department.
Interim Director of Mental Health and Addictions, Laura Farrelly, says Niagara Health is dedicated to the well-being of its staff.
“Our priority is to ensure that our staff have the resources and support they need to continue delivering safe and much-needed services to our community,” Farrelly says.
