Hamilton’s GritLIT Festival celebrating 20 years with workshops, special guests and more

Hamilton’s annual literary festival is celebrating its 20th year this week.

Starting Wednesday, the GritLit Festival will host a range of workshops, guest panels and celebrations to mark its 20th anniversary.

The near weeklong festival will have something for every kind of book lover and bibliophile out there.

After hosting one of Canada’s most iconic authors, Margaret Atwood, earlier this month, another special guest is scheduled to appear at Hamilton’s Playhouse Cinema, later this week.

Acclaimed Canadian news host and journalist Peter Mansbridge will host a now-sold-out talk on Thursday to discuss his latest book, “How Canada Works: The People Who Make Our Nation Thrive.”

Mansbridge was the face of CBC for over 30 years while anchoring The National. His book examines the everyday jobs that keep our country running.

While Mansbridge’s event is sold out, tickets are still on sale for other virtual and in-person events.

Readers and writers alike will find a myriad of events worth checking out, from meet and greets with some notable Canadian authors to writing workshops that could help you improve your writing abilities.

The event runs through Sunday. Individual tickets start at $10, and writing workshops start at $25. Limited spaces remain, so be sure to get yours while they last.
