A local Hamilton toy store is giving back for the whole month of May in celebration of its 15th anniversary.
Citizen Kid located at 230 Locke Street South is donating one dollar from every sale this month to Food for Kids Hamilton.
Citizen Kid is an independent and family-owned toy store offering natural toys of quality and lasting value.
Store owner Rebecca Bamford says she feels it’s her responsibility to give back to the community in times of need.
“A lot of people are struggling with the cost of food, and the cost of living. I thought this was a good way to do some work in our community,” says Bamford.
Food for Kids partners with 79 Hamilton elementary and secondary schools to provide nutritious meals to more than 1,600 students who are at risk of going hungry.
Bamford says she hopes to raise one thousand dollars for the organization by the end of the month.
