Hamilton police seek man wanted in Habitat for Humanity theft

Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man accused of stealing over $3,500 in items from Habitat for Humanity last week.

Officers responded to an entry alarm shortly after 1 p.m. on May 26 for the not-for-profit charity located at 1525 Stone Church Rd. East.

Investigators shared surveillance video that shows the suspect walking with a bike and looking into the building. He then appears to put on gloves and a black mask before breaking in.

Once inside, police say the man pried open a small safe and scattered its contents.

Video shows the man biking away from the area with a bag of stolen items, including a Lenovo laptop and several batteries.

The man who is over six feet tall was wearing a red or orange sweater, blue jeans and a backpack at the time of the theft.

Hamilton police say he fled the area before they arrived.

Anyone with information or surveillance video of the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact Det. Mike O’Hagan at 905-546-8937 or Det. Sgt. Shane Groombridge at 905-546-2991.
