Halton police make arrests in auto theft cases, 2 suspects wanted

Halton police have announced additional arrests in its Project Ninja auto theft investigation but suspects are still wanted nation-wide.

New arrests were made on Sept. 12, Sept. 16 and Sept 23.

Individuals by the names of Yasser Hassani and Olivier Paquette are still wanted for arrest and at large.

The first suspect arrested was Yacine Mamache, 24, of Montréal, Que.

Mamache was arrested by Service de Police la Ville De Montreal and transferred to Halton police where he was charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime and trafficking in stolen property, both over $5,000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Faycal Kessaci, 23, was arrested by Halton officers in Oakville and charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Kessaci has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Youli-Wass Aidali, 22, of Le Goulet, N.B. was arrested by Halton officers in Oakville and charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Aidali has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

In May of this year the Halton Police Organized Crime Unit began Project Ninja to investigate an organized group of auto thieves who had been operating within Halton region, and across the Greater Toronto Area.
