Final 2 suspects charged in St. Catharines gang sexual assault

Two more people have been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged gang sexual assault that took place in St. Catharines last month.

Niagara police say four male suspects broke into a home in the area of Welland Avenue and Lake Street on Sept. 15, where they allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and stole multiple items.

Officers say the woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

A 17-year-old Niagara Falls man was arrested on Sept. 27 and charged with 12 offences, including gang sexual assault and sexual assault with a firearm.

One day later, 24-year-old Kieran Ennis of Atwood North Perth surrendered himself to local provincial police. He was then brought back to the Niagara region and charged with 13 offences in connection with the incident.

In an update Tuesday, investigators say a 17-year-old boy and 19-year-old man were arrested and charged in the case.

The 17-year-old boy is facing 12 charges, including several break-and-enter offences and sexual assault causing bodily harm.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing that took place on Oct. 4 in St. Catharines.

Officers say Larry Smith of St. Catharines was also arrested and charged with 16 offences related to the investigation.
