Emergency crews rescue stalled vessel near Crystal Beach

Emergency crews were able to successfully locate and rescue a stalled vessel near Crystal Beach.

Police say they first received a call about an overdue vessel around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

According to their reports, the people aboard the boat had called someone on shore around midnight to let them know they were having engine problems.

Niagara police organized a search party with help from the Rescue Centre in Trenton.

Together, they coordinated with vessels from the Fort Erie fire station and the Marine Auxiliary Rescue team from Port Colborne to search the area.

By 5:30 a.m., the missing boat and its passengers were located near Point Abino and towed back to safety.
