Driver dies after single car collision in Waterdown

A 69-year-old man has died following a single motor vehicle collision in Waterdown on Thursday that closed Centre Road for several hours.

Hamilton emergency services were called to 687 Centre Rd following reports of an accident involving a white Ford Econoline van. The van left the roadway, entered a ditch and struck a pole.

The driver was found in medical distress at the scene and was transported to hospital where he later died.

The Coroner’s Office is investigating a possible medical episode prior to the vehicle leaving the roadway. Speed, driver impairment and distraction have been ruled out. Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated to assist with the investigation.
