Cyclist sent to hospital after being hit at Flamborough intersection

A cyclist was sent to hospital in critical condition Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle at a Flamborough intersection.

Hamilton police responded to a call at around 1:40 p.m. of a collision at the intersection of Concession 2 Road West and Inksetter Road between a cyclist and a Volvo.

Officers say the cyclist is a 28-year old woman from Sudbury who is a post-secondary student studying in Hamilton.

Police say that the woman was riding northbound on Inksetter Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign at Concession 2 West before she was struck by the Volvo.

Emergency crews say the woman was sent to hospital in critical but stable condition.

Investigators say the vehicle was driven by a 22-year-old man from Dundas, who remained at the scene and co-operated with officers.

The department says that speed and driver impairment have been ruled out as probably causes for the collision.

Anyone with information or video is asked to contact police.
