City of Hamilton issues injunction order against downtown Club 33

The City of Hamilton has issued an urgent injunction order against the downtown nightclub Club 33 keeping doors closed until Sept. 12.

The order was issued to the nightclub near Catharine and Jackson Streets which prohibits the owners from doing any business that requires a license to operate.

These include licenses used to operate a bar, restaurant, after-hours club or an entertainment venue.

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice granted the city’s request for the injunction after the nightclub became a focal point of several violent incidents in the area.

A triple shooting occurred outside of the club last month during one of Hamilton’s most violent nights of the year, and last Friday the nightclub was shut down for serving alcohol a day after its liquor license was revoked.
