The County of Brant says it will no longer participate in a joint committee it collaborated on with the City of Brantford.
The Joint-City-County Shared Services Committee was a board that explored ways the two regions could share resources.
On Wednesday, the County of Brant released a statement saying it had decided to withdraw.
Currently, the two share specific resources such as social services and paramedic services.
The city provides the former, and the county provides the latter.
The committee had been exploring several other avenues of collaboration the two could enter into, such a waste pickup, public transit, master transit plans, sports, recreation facilities and general economic development plans.
“Despite the dissolution of the committee, the County of Brant remains committed to exploring future collaborative opportunities,” said Brant County’s Chief Administration Officer, Alison Newton.
The county says it made the choice to withdraw due to a lack of staffing and a need to prioritize other ongoing projects. It added that this “strategic decision will ensure that existing initiatives are completed effectively and continue to meet the needs of our communities.”
