Binbrook, in southeastern Hamilton, is hosting its 171st annual Fair this weekend with a free community appreciation event Thursday evening.
The fair has been run by the Binbrook Agricultural Society since 1854 and is being held at 2600 Regional Road 56.
The festival will showcase a demolition derby running through Friday and Saturday, a rodeo encompassing Saturday and Sunday, and kids entertainment available for the entire weekend.
Residents can also take part in several competitions ranging from book cover contests, to a baby show where families can showcase kids one-year-old or younger.

Thursday’s community event is free for all ages, but admission to the fairgrounds is $15 per person for Friday, $20 for each person on Saturday and $15 per person on Sunday and will only accept cash at the festival gates. Kids under 12-years-old can enter for free.
The fairgrounds will not be able to accommodate a drop-off or pick-up location – or as the agricultural society puts it: a hug-and-go spot – and asks festival attendees to se a close-by parking lot or accessible location instead.
This year the fairgrounds will also feature new security measures in collaboration with Hamilton police services.

The agricultural society made a post on social media Sunday reading that the a new video surveillance system has been installed ahead of the weekend. The post also reads of “substantially enhanced presence” of both police and security personnel for this year.
This follows after two violent incidents occurred during the Winona Peach Festival held weeks ago in August during one of the most violent nights of the year.
