2 Niagara men arrested in Toronto in drug and firearm investigation

Niagara police arrested and charged two men in Toronto who are suspected of being involved in drug trafficking throughout the Niagara region.

Detectives, the emergency task unit and the K9 unit were all involved in the arrest around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Finch Avenue West in Toronto.

Officers seized a loaded handgun from one of the men, as well as five other handguns, one fully automatic AK-style pistol and several high-capacity magazines.

Further investigation revealed the two men were near the Manitoba-North Dakota border and were on their way back to the Niagara region, where police say the guns would have been sold on the streets.
