12-year-old called in bomb threat on Simcoe elementary school: OPP

The province’s police force has confirmed that a bomb threat on a school in Simcoe was merely a hoax, phoned in by a 12-year-old.

On Tuesday morning, the Norfolk County branch of the OPP was called in to investigate a bomb threat at St. Joseph’s School, an elementary school in Simcoe.

Officers cleared the school at 34 Potts Rd. a short while later.

“Responding officers conducted an extensive search of the school and its premises but did not find any suspicious packages or items of interest,” the force said.

Later that evening, authorities were able to confirm the suspect’s identity and that the phone call had been a hoax — phoned in by a 12-year-old.

No charges have been laid.
