A Niagara police officer pleaded guilty on Tuesday in a Hamilton courtroom to two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Justice Stephen Darroch granted Cst. Adam Gorski an absolute discharge — a finding of guilt but with no registered conviction, noting that Gorski had no previous criminal record and had a long history of service as a police officer.

Darroch told Gorski he could “not possess weapons except as approved and required by your employer and only during the course of your employment.”

Gorski was arrested on March 6, 2023. The Niagara Regional Police Service said in a media release in 2023 that it became aware of an allegation involving a uniformed constable in September 2022 and requested Hamilton Police Service lead the investigation to avoid a conflict of interest.

Gorski, who has been with NRPS for 15 years, was on administrative leave when the alleged offences occurred.
