Niagara police charge 2 Stoney Creek residents in connection with drug death in Pelham

An investigation into the death of a man in Pelham, police say, has led to two people from Stoney Creek being charged.

On April 11, officers were called to an area in Pelham where they found a 45-year-old man dead.

Police said the cause of death was determined to be drug overdose.

The Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit started an investigation to identify the potential sources of origin for the illegal substances that were trafficked to the victim prior to his death.

In a news release on Thursday, police said they carried out search warrants at a home in Stoney Creek and in a vehicle. They seized $4,900 worth of fentanyl patches, nearly $19,680 in oxycodone pills and $33,900 in cash.

Two people from Stoney Creek — a 49-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man — were charged in connection with the investigation, police said. They are facing several drug-related offences.
