A man has died after fire broke out at a home in Thorold, Ont., police say.
Officers were called to the area of Beaverdams Road and Baker Street to respond to a fire on Sunday, the Niagara Regional Police Service said in a news release Monday afternoon.
When they arrived, officers found the rear of a residence in the area “completely engulfed in flames,” police said.
The Thorold Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the blaze.
Police say a man was located suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the fire. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators are working with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Office of the Chief Coroner, police say.
