Man, 52, charged with 2nd-degree murder after stabbing in St. Catharines, police say

A 52-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a male was killed in St. Catharines on Thursday, Niagara Regional Police say.

Police say they were called to the area of Niagara Street and Church Street just before 10 p.m. for a stabbing.

When emergency crews arrived they found a male with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victim was transported to an out-of-region hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, the 52-year-old man was quickly identified and arrested.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday.
