Man, 33, arrested after double homicide in St. Catharines, police say

Niagara police say a 33-year-old man is facing two second degree murder charges after a man and woman were found dead in St. Catharines.

Police say officers were called to a home near Queenston Street and Lorne Street on Thursday around 9 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found George Mummery, 62, and Jennifer Allen, 59, dead inside the house.

Half an hour later, police say officers arrested a 33-year-old man at The Village Square on St. Catharines Street in Smithville.

The service says the man and the victims knew each other.

Police say they’re trying to understand what the accused did between April 30 and May 2.

The man was wearing a black coat, dark green hoodie, blue jeans and a green backpack when he was arrested, police say.

He’s described as a man with short dark hair who weighs 160 pounds and stands at 5’10”.

The service says anyone with any information or footage should contact police.
