Boy, 15, dead following Friday collision on the Linc, police say

A 15-year-old Hamilton boy is dead following a collision on the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway, according to police.

This makes the 10th fatal collision of 2024 in Hamilton, according to police.

The collision happened on Friday afternoon near the Upper Gage overpass, Hamilton Police Service said in a Saturday news release.

Witnesses reported that two or three vehicles appeared to be racing on the highway at the time of the accident, police said. 

Two of the vehicles collided and lost control at around 2:30 p.m., police said in the release. 

“A Toyota SUV left the road and rolled a few times … one or more occupants were ejected from the Toyota.”

Three people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, police said, including the 15-year-old. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

An 18-year-old man from Hamilton was charged with dangerous operation causing harm and dangerous operation causing death following the accident.

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
