St. Matthew’s House geared up for its first-ever “Walk for SMH” in Hamilton’s north end on Saturday.
Over a dozen people started the walk at Workers Arts and Heritage Centre on Stuart Street. The event featured a 1.4 km walk, highlighting five historical spots in the area.
This inaugural fundraiser aims to generate support for St. Matthew’s House’s vital programs, particularly those aiding isolated seniors facing income and home insecurity.
St. Mathews House is currently working on a project to help build affordable housing for black and indigenous seniors.
The Executive Director says they’re building 15 units, which she says will be opening by the end of this year.
