HSR spring schedule sees changes to 13 bus routes in Hamilton

HSR has ushered in its spring schedule, which will also see changes to 13 bus routes in Hamilton.

The city, which shared the list of updated routes in a media release, also warns its HSRnow service that helps plan trips and monitor real-time bus arrival isn’t working because of the recent cybersecurity incident.

People trying to use map apps through Google, Apple and others also may not have accurate information, the city said.

“We’re working hard to resolve this as quickly as possible,” reads the release.

The cyberattack in late February shut down almost all city phone lines, paralyzed city council and impacted dozens of services including the bus schedule app, library WiFi and permit applications.

The routes where changes started on Sunday include:

Three seasonal routes are also affected:

  • Service on Route 9 – Rock Gardens returns on Sundays and holidays, effective May 12.
  • There’s no service on Route 51 – University until September.
  • Route 56 – Centennial will come around every 45 minutes between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Route 56 won’t provide service to Wild Waterworks until June 22.

Holidays and Ticat games

The city also provided an update on bus service for upcoming holidays and Hamilton Tiger-Cat games.

Buses will run on a regular Sunday service schedule for Victoria Day (May 20) and Canada Day (July 1).

HSR Shuttle service to and from Ticat games resumes for the pre-season game on May 25 and the regular-season home opener on June 16.
