Niagara police investigating after women’s body found in Smithville home

Niagara police are still investigating after a woman was killed inside a Smithville home on on Lindan Street late last week.

There are very few details from the police as to what exactly happened early Friday morning in Smithville, which is leaving many people who live in the area uneasy.

“We saw the police show up Friday, I got home from work around 4 and they were there. A couple of hours later the forensic unit showed up. So we knew it was something very serious,” said neighbour, Jessica Parker.

There is currently no word of the woman’s age or if she lived in the home, and no information yet from police about who found her.

“It was shocking, we expected it was just the death of an elderly person, but when forensics showed up we knew it was something more serious. When police came around they said it was a homicide but gave up no details,” said Parker.

There was no information from Niagara police if anyone was arrested or if they are searching for a suspect.

Niagara police stated on Sunday that there is no update to the investigation and if anyone has information to contact police.
