36-year-old charged in Jason Gallant case
A Hamilton man has been charged with murder in the death of Jason Gallant, whose body was found near Pier 4 park earlier this month.
Gallant’s body was discovered on April 2 near the Leander Boat Club at Pier 4 park. The death was considered suspicious and the homicide unit began investigating.
The body was found at the north end of the park near the water’s edge, Det. Sgt. Sarah Beck told a news conference the next day.
She said Gallant, 50, from Hamilton was found unresponsive by a woman out walking her dog. The woman called 911 at about 8 a.m. ET and tried to revive Gallant, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Beck said it’s unclear why he was near the Leander Boat Club at the time but police believe he was there for hours and whatever happened to him occurred overnight. They aren’t looking for additional suspects.
This is the city’s third homicide this year.
