Hamilton residents warned of alleged medical benefits scam

Residents of Hamilton are being warned about an alleged provincial benefits payment scam.

In post on social media on Wednesday, police said flyers were being circulated in the city promoting a false Ontario benefits program.

The flyer states residents with specific medical conditions could be eligible for up to $50,000, which could be claimed by calling or texting a phone number.

“If it seems too good to be true, it probably is,” Hamilton police said in the post.
