The Town of Milton is inviting young people and professional artists to participate in a collaborative art project to create a large-scale mural to be displayed at the Milton Sports Centre.
The project entitled ‘Colours of Change: Building a Safer Tomorrow’ will allow teens from grades nine to 12 to team up with a local professional artist to design a mural that expresses a sense of belonging and visibility in their community.
The mural will be unveiled in late March of next year.
Up to 15 selected youth will be invited to attend three workshops to develop the design concept. No prior art experience is required for the young participants.
Professional artists living in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas are invited to submit expressions of interest. All applications will be reviewed based on past work and experience with community art creation.
Interested youth and artists can apply online until Nov. 15.
The project is hosted in collaboration with the Town of Milton and the Milton Youth Task Force and is made possible from funding received from the federal government’s Building Safer Communities Fund.
