Local MP Filomena Tassi announced Friday an investment of $100,000 towards making a new waterfall experience for the City of Hamilton.
The member of parliament made the announcement while attending the Tourism Hamilton office downtown Friday morning.
She said that the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) was making a new investment of $4.2 million spread over 30 organizations across southern Ontario focused on improving tourism experiences.
The City of Hamilton is slated to see an investment of $100,000 will be used to improve visitor experience, safety and accessibility at the city’s famous waterfalls.
Hamilton’s new plan, called the Destination Waterfall Master Plan, aims to increase the number of visitors and tourists to the City of Hamilton.
The goal is to “enrich Hamilton’s appeal as a year-round destination and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the over 100 waterfalls for years to come,” according to a statement released following the announcement.
Six of the 30 projects announced Friday also say they will support Indigenous tourism across southern Ontario.
