Man arrested after bringing replica firearm to Niagara College campus

Niagara police say they have arrested a 25-year-old after he allegedly brought a replica firearm to Niagara College.

On Thursday morning, officers dispatched to the school campus after receiving reports of a man with a weapon.

Police placed nearby Quaker Road Public School and Alexander Kuska Catholic Elementary School under a hold and secure while they assessed the threat.

Officials say they located Ezenwa Obieze on school campus in possession of a replica firearm.

Further investigation revealed Obieze had allegedly threatened on-duty security staff.

The suspect is now facing a criminal charge in relation to the incident.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the hold and secure at the schools has been lifted.
