Woman who pepper sprayed crowd wanted by Niagara police

Niagara police say they’re trying to track down a woman who “discharged pepper spray” at a crowd earlier this week.

On Thursday, the department was called to a disturbance around 11:30 a.m. in the City of Welland.

Officers arrived at an area near Wellington Street and Memorial Park Drive and learned a woman sprayed pepper spray at a crowd of people.

Police say four young men sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Following an investigation into the matter, detectives say they were able to identify the suspect.

The force says Destynie Tempeny, a 19-year-old from Dunville, is wanted on four counts of assault with a weapon.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Niagara police by calling 905-688-4111, option three, extension 1009614.
