19-year-old in Welland faces second degree murder charges

Police have arrested a 19-year-old from Welland after an incident Tuesday morning sent a man to hospital who later died from his injuries.

Niagara regional police responded to an ambulance call at a home at around 10:30 a.m. at Broadway and Pietz Avenue in the City of Welland.

Emergency crews found a man with life-threatening injuries at the home and transported him to hospital, where he later died.

Officers arrested Sommer Etherden of Welland and has charged him with second degree murder.

The department says there is no on-going threat to public safety, but ask anyone with information to contact police.
