Despite the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ tough season, Tabbie Nation was pleased to win in a major game steeped in tradition for Labour Day.
It was a full house at Tim Hortons field on Monday and excitement built up quickly after the Ticats got off to a hot start — which was a big relief for fans.
The Toronto Argonauts kept fighting back to keep the game close, but Hamilton got the job done in the end.
The crowd showed immense pride in their football club, which is going through a tough season and is last in the East Division.
However, despite the poor ranking, the Ticats seized the day with a 31-28 final over the Argos.
It was a much-needed win for Hamilton, who have lost four straight games to date. It ended a dry spell and left fans ecstatic on an important holiday for a city with deep ties to the Labour movement.
The Ticats will go on to face the Ottawa Redblacks on Sept. 14.
