Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Hamilton region.
The federal weather agency said that there’ll be significant rainfall beginning Thursday that’s expected to last until Friday morning.
Along with it comes a risk for a thunderstorm, heavy wind and some localized flash flooding.
Meteorologists with Environment Canada expect to see 25 to 50 millimetres of rain throughout this storm’s duration and warn that the heavy downpour may lead to water pooling on the road.
None of the local conservation authorities have issued flood warnings at this time.
Environment Canada says that there may be some snow Friday night and Saturday morning.
“Northwesterly winds will intensify in behind the system late Friday afternoon into Friday night with gusts up to 80 km/h,” reads their weather statement.
“This will bring in cooler air resulting in lingering rain to mix with snow Friday night into Saturday morning.”
