Second cat shot with arrow in Hamilton neighbourhood

A north-end neighbourhood in Hamilton is deeply concerned after a local cat was spotted with an arrow sticking out of it.

Efforts to rescue “Max the Cat” have been ongoing since Friday, and those living in the area are wondering why someone would do such a thing.

Residents living on Simcoe Street heard their neighbourhood cat Max meowing in pain and spotted an arrow sticking out of his shoulder.

Residents say that this is a concerning pattern, as a similar situation occurred last May when a neighborhood cat was struck by a crossbow bolt.

Local resident, Bridget Marsdin, says she phoned the police who came out and canvassed the neighbourhood, but a lingering fear that this might keep happening remains.

“Honestly, it feels very unnerving. We have a caring neighbourhood, we care about the community. People are afraid for their children, and their dogs. They are worried this is going to escalate,” said Marsdin.

“The first word I think is disgusting. It’s unfortunate people want to harm them and see them harmed, it’s disgusting, it’s terrible,” said resident, Max Nicholls.
