Police Deem Death a Homicide after Autopsy

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Paramedics responded to a medical incident at 36 Queen Street South. A 46-year-old resident, David Fugler, was found unconscious in his room and was transported to the hospital. Tragically, David passed away early the next morning.

The coroner notified the Hamilton Police Service of the death. Following an autopsy conducted on Monday, August 5, 2024, the results led police to determine that the death was a homicide. The Homicide Unit was subsequently called in that afternoon.

Police are currently securing the scene at 36 Queen Street South and will maintain a presence in the area throughout the day.

David’s family has been informed of the investigation and has requested privacy during this difficult time. David was a beloved son, brother, and friend.

At this time, no arrests have been made. Police have confirmed that firearms are not involved in this investigation, and David was not previously known to the police.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and will be in the area over the next couple of days, speaking to witnesses and collecting video.
