Thorold elementary school given all-clear after weapons call investigation

Niagara police have given the all-clear after responding to a report of a potentially armed person at an elementary school in Thorold early Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say a member of the day camp and day care at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary relayed a report from a child saying they saw a man with a knife in the building.

Everyone was evacuated shortly after 1:30 p.m. and officers found nothing suspicious.

Police lifted the safety measures just over an hour later.

The investigation remains ongoing to determine the validity of the initial report.
