Hamilton Police are appealing to the community for assistance following a shooting incident in the city early this morning.
Officers were called to a parking lot at 1127 Barton Street East just after midnight, where evidence of gunfire was discovered. As the investigation unfolds, community members can expect to see our officers canvassing the area for witnesses and video footage today.
Shortly after 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, Hamilton Police responded to reports of possible shots fired. Initial reports indicated the sound of gunfire, with additional information suggesting two males were observed engaging in a physical altercation followed by gunfire before fleeing the area.
Upon arrival, officers secured the scene, although the suspects had already fled. Evidence confirmed that a shooting had taken place. No physical injuries have been reported in connection to the incident at this time.
Police are looking to speak to two males described by witness accounts as follows:
Male One:
- Shirtless
- Short cropped hair with facial hair
- Approximately 5’10” and 160 pounds
- Last seen running southbound on Ottawa Street
Male Two:
- Wearing a leather jacket, baseball cap, and dark jeans
- Short cropped hair
- Driving a truck, last seen heading west on Barton Street East

Residents and business owners in the area are asked to review their security camera footage from 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 to 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 25 for any suspicious activity. Drivers who were in the area during this time and have dash camera footage are also encouraged to contact us.
