Hold and secure at 2 Catholic schools in Hamilton lifted, police continue to investigate

A weapons investigation on the Hamilton Mountain briefly put two Catholic schools on high alert early Tuesday.

St. John Paul II Catholic Elementary School and St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School were both placed on hold and secure while officers attended a nearby call involving a weapon.

Officers added that “all staff and students are currently safe within the schools.”

The department posted the notice on social media around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, but released the school 15 minutes later.

Officers continue to probe the area around Rymal Road East and Stone Chruch Road East, between Upper Wentworth Street and Upper Sherman Avenue.
