3rd suspect charged in Niagara human trafficking investigation

A third person has been charged in a human trafficking investigation in Niagara Region.

Officers opened the case last December and identified suspects.

On May 30, police arrested 47-year-old Wasim Ahmed of Maple and 61-year-old Mohammad Arshad Ghummian of Mississauga.

They’ve been charged with trafficking in persons, procuring, sexual assault, forcible confinement and uttering threats.

On Wednesday, investigators arrested and charged 73-year-old Joginder Bajwa of King, Ont., with sexual assault.

Bajwa was held in custody pending a video bail hearing Thursday in St. Catharines.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives believe there may be more victims.
