Speed cameras in Smithville cut down, yet again

After being cut down in April, Smithville’s speed cameras have been vandalized yet again.

It appears someone cut the cameras earlier this week using a power tool.

One of the cameras was near Smithville Christian High School on Townline Road.

The other slumped over speed trap is by John Calvin school on Station Street.

It likely wouldn’t have taken long, but it would have been fairly loud.

The last time this happened in Vineland, neighbours said they could hear the metal being cut and could see sparks flying.

“Living here, we are used to mailboxes on the country roads destroyed and the occasional street signs being removed, but the destruction of the speed traps again is ridiculous,” a resident told CHCH News.
