Man, 76, in critical condition after serious crash on Hamilton Mountain

A 76-year-old man remains in hospital in critical condition following a serious collision on Hamilton Mountain Wednesday evening.

Police say the two-vehicle crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Upper James Street and English Church Road.

Investigators say a 19-year-old Hamilton man who was driving a 2012 Mercedes C300 was heading northbound when the senior who was driving a 2011 Toyota CTX made a left turn directly in front of the Mercedes.

The Mercedes then hit the side of the Toyota, causing it to crash in a ditch.

Paramedics transported both men to hospital. The 19-year-old has since been released, while the 76-year-old man remains there in critical but stable condition.

Hamilton police are asking any witnesses, nearby residents with surveillance video and drivers with dash camera video to contact Det. Const. Cruickshanks at 905-546-4753 or scruickshanks@hamiltonpolice.ca.
